  • Learn how to achieve this subtle patina style with just 3 colours and clear wax.
  • Ambusson blue
  • Graphite
  • Louis blue
  • Sealed with clear wax

Step 1.

I started by cleaning the cabinet with a furniture cleaner. I used a strong type bought in a hardware shop, i ended up buying 5L. I use very little each time. This has lasted me a long time. I always wipe over the project with water to remove any left over cleaning product.

This step is to remove any old dust, grime and dirt. Furniture can look cleaner than it is alot of the time. It is always worth cleaning your pieces before you paint them.

Step 2.

I then poured my Ambusson blue into a plastic cup. I used an old chip brush on this project.

I then proceeded to dab the brush with the paint on it up and down to create this spotted effect. I did this over the whole piece, Stopping and starting when i got tired or just needed a break.

Whilst doing this the different shades appeared. THE AMBUSSON BLUE IS A BEAUTIFUL COLOUR to paint with: By Annie Sloan.

Chalk paint is such a wonderful paint. You can experiment and play around with it easily.

Step 3.

I carried on adding layers of the Ambusson blue until i felt that it was covered in the way i wanted.

Step 4.

I then started to add graphite

to the indents and anywhere i thought

shading would look good.

Step 5.

I then added Louis blue over the hardware and any sharp corners to highlight these details.

Step 6.

After i had finished painting i distressed the

  • Hardware
  • Any edges
  • And a few other random spots

Step 7.

I then waxed the whole piece with Annie Sloans clear wax.

Step 8.

The last step was to scrape off any paint and wax from the glass windows.

I would have covered the glass with newspaper and tape if i had known how long they would take to clean.

(Ahhh i am always learning better ways to do things. YAY!!! hahaha)

I used this tool to scrap the glass. Its amazing.
